Notes

Country: Indonesia (ID)

Indonesia has specific rules for sending SMS messages that must be followed to ensure proper delivery. Alphanumeric sender IDs are required to be pre-registered. It is important to note that if no SMS traffic has been sent from a registered sender ID for a period of three months, it will be blocked by all networks except Smartfren. If a customer wants to resume using a blocked sender ID, a re-registration must be made.

Numeric sender IDs may be subject to filtering by local operators, which may result in them being changed to ensure delivery. Generic sender IDs such as INFO, SMS, NOTICE etc. are not allowed and it is recommended to use a representative brand or company name to ensure messages are delivered.

It's also important to note that from August 2024, all networks in Indonesia will introduce new requirements for SMS traffic sent from domestic sender IDs. One of the new requirements is that the brand name must be included in the content of the SMS messages. If the brand name is missing or does not match the sender ID, this will be considered misuse of domestic sender IDs, which can result in a block for six months.

In addition, there are specific guidelines for the content of messages, especially for operators such as Telkomsel, Axis and PT XL Axiata Tbk, where transactional messages and certain keywords may be subject to filtering.

It is important to stay updated on the current rules and guidelines as these may change. We recommend contacting your account manager or support for more information about the Sender ID registration process and compliance with local requirements.
