Notes
Ghana (GH) has specific guidelines for sending SMS messages. It is important to note that alphanumeric sender IDs are supported, but there are special requirements for the MTN network where pre-registration is mandatory. Sender IDs are case sensitive and must include the brand name. Numeric sender IDs are not supported unless offered as part of a two-way service. Generic sender IDs such as INFO, SMS and NOTICE are not allowed.
When it comes to marketing traffic, it is necessary to obtain consent from users before sending messages. P2P traffic is prohibited and no content related to politics, religion, unsolicited advertising or gambling may be sent. Further content restrictions follow our Acceptable Use Policy.
It is important to be aware that the rules for SMS messages may change and we strive to keep the information updated and accurate. For further questions or assistance, we recommend contacting our support team.
