In Thailand, there are specific guidelines for the use of sender ID when sending SMS messages. Alphanumeric sender IDs must be pre-registered to avoid blocking for spam. Unregistered senders will be overwritten in the best possible way. Numeric sender IDs are not supported unless offered as part of a two-way service. Generic sender IDs such as INFO, SMS, NOTICE etc. are not allowed.
To start the Sender ID registration process, it is recommended to contact your account manager or support. As of February 13, 2025, message content URLs must be submitted for whitelisting as part of the Sender ID registration process. Mobile operators in Thailand are required to submit the URL to the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) in Thailand. It is important to note that this may cause further delays in the registration of the Sender ID. It is recommended to avoid using URLs in message content unless necessary. Shared URL shorteners are not allowed. Registered sender IDs with content containing a URL must be re-registered if there are any changes to the URL, except in the variable part.
From November 2025, mobile operators in Thailand will gradually start implementing URL screening. Messages containing URLs blacklisted by operators will not be delivered. Messages with other URLs (both whitelisted and non-whitelisted) will be delivered, but an exclamation mark will be added before the sender ID.
