Benin (BJ) is located in Africa and has the mobile country code 616. When sending SMS messages to this country, there are specific sender ID guidelines. Dynamic alphanumeric sender IDs are supported, but there is an exception for the MTN network (61603) where prior registration is required. Sender IDs are case sensitive and must include the brand name. Numeric sender IDs are allowed on all networks except MTN where the sender ID will be changed to ensure delivery. Generic sender IDs such as INFO, SMS, NOTICE etc. are not allowed. To start the Sender ID registration process, please contact your account manager or support.
When it comes to usage and content, user consent is required before marketing messages are sent. It is important to note that person-to-person (P2P) traffic is prohibited, as is content related to politics, religion, unsolicited advertising or gambling. There are no additional content restrictions beyond those stated in our Acceptable Use Policy.
We strive to keep the information about SMS messaging updated and accurate, but we cannot be held responsible for any changes in the rules. For further assistance or questions, please feel free to contact our support team.
