Notes
Country: China (CN).
China is one of the largest and fastest growing mobile markets in the world, but it is also one of the most challenging countries to reach as many filters are in place to block messages in and out of the country. Operators in China and local authorities are constantly reviewing their policies and stricter requirements may be introduced without prior notice. The processing of registration requests may be temporarily paused without prior notice.
Important updates regarding SMS registration in China: As of April 2025, there will be additional restrictions for companies that are allowed to register. Registration for companies from Hong Kong or Macau will not be allowed. For international companies with an entity in Hong Kong or Macau, registration is not allowed. International companies without a local entity cannot register either. However, international companies with a local entity and a Chinese business license can register. It is important to note that the legal representative named in the license must be a Chinese citizen. Information such as the ID number and contact details of the legal representative must also be provided, as this is required by the Chinese operators when reviewing the registration request.
From the end of November 2024, Chinese operators have further tightened content controls. It is therefore important to be aware that requirements may change and that there may be specific rules to follow when sending A2P SMS messages to recipients in China.
