Notes

Country: Cameroon (CM)

Cameroon has specific rules for sending SMS messages that must be followed. Sender IDs must be alphanumeric and contain the brand name. It is important to note that pre-registration is mandatory for the MTN network. Numeric transmitter IDs are not supported unless it is in connection with a bidirectional service. In such cases, numeric sender IDs will be overwritten to ensure delivery. Generic sender IDs such as INFO, SMS, NOTICE etc. are not allowed. To start the Sender ID registration process, please contact your account manager or support.

When it comes to usage and content, it is necessary to obtain consent from users before sending marketing messages. Phone numbers in Cameroon consist of 9 digits, with all GSM numbers (MTN, Orange, Nexttel) beginning with the number 6. For example, (237) 99246025 becomes (237) 699246025. All SMS messages sent to operators Orange and MTN must contain the recipient's number with 12 digits starting with 2376. SMS messages with destination numbers of 11 digits will be rejected and cannot be sent to the operators.

It is also important to note that P2P traffic is prohibited and no political, religious, unsolicited advertising or gambling-related content may be sent. There are no additional content restrictions beyond those stated in our Acceptable Use Policy. Please note that the rules for SMS messages in different countries may change and we strive to keep the information updated and correct.
