SureSMS

Send text messages to employees from Entra ID

Entra ID SMS is used to import users from Microsoft Entra ID into SureSMS groups so you can send text messages to employees. Entra ID was previously known as Azure AD. Entra is where the employee and the group are located; the text messages are sent from SureSMS.

You need to take care of that first

  • An administrator in the Entra tenant who is authorized to approve SureSMS's access to user data.
  • Cell phone numbers of the employees who need to be able to receive text messages.
  • An Entra ID subscription in SureSMS. The portal shows the price and whether the rest of the month is free.
  • One test number for a test user.

How to Set It Up

  1. Go to Integrations → Entra ID.
  2. Click Connect Entra ID. The administrator approves SureSMS with Microsoft. There are no fields for Client ID, secret, or Tenant ID.
  3. When you return, the status should show the tenant's name.
  4. Under Field mapping You choose which Entra fields will be used for phone number, name, and email.
  5. During mapping, you select which Entra groups should be assigned to which SureSMS groups.
  6. You can also choose All users with a phone number.
  7. If the SureSMS group is missing, create it from the list. New groups are named Entra - plus the name you enter.
  8. Click Gem.
  9. Click Sync Now, and check the status.
  10. View log shows what the synchronization has done.
