Send a text message from Lectio

Lectio SMS This means that the school can send text messages based on an agreed-upon data extract from Lectio. This is not done via a Lectio tab in SureSMS, and Lectio does not have a "Send" button for SureSMS. The setup is arranged with SureSMS.

The school needs to have this ready

  • Which report in Lectio should be used, and what is it called?.
  • The file contains a cell phone number on each row that should receive a text message.
  • The fields from which the message should be constructed.
  • A username and password that are specifically for retrieving that report. The password is provided through the secure channel specified by support.
  • Who should receive the text message: the number listed in the row.
  • When messages may be sent if they do not need to be sent immediately.

What SureSMS Does

  • Retrieving the agreed-upon data extract.
  • Sends text messages to the numbers in the list.
  • Use the fields you've agreed on for the message text.
  • Do not skip rows unless agreed upon. If a row is missing a valid number, it cannot be turned into a text message.

Here's how to test with just a few rows

  1. Create a small test extract with just a few rows and cell phone numbers that you can verify yourself.
  2. Agree on the message text with SureSMS.
  3. Let SureSMS run the test.
  4. Check your phones to make sure the message went through.
  5. Check together to make sure all the fields in the message are correct.

Tips Before Operation

  • Use the test numbers first.
  • Make sure the cell phone numbers are in the field where you expect them to be.
  • If the school wants to send a message to parents, the parents' phone numbers must be included in the list. SureSMS does not look up parents based on a student ID number.
  • Clearly agree on when the order will be picked up.
