According to Shopify, 69 % of customers made Black Friday purchases on mobile phones in 2020. So if SMS messaging isn't part of your marketing strategy in 2021, it should be.
- Fewer people visited retail stores - traffic decreased by 42.3 % in 2020.
- The majority of people (61%) bought on their laptops and other devices, while 39% bought from mobile phones.
- There was a staggering increase in the number of people using Order-and-Collect, 30 % growth compared to 2019.
- Cart abandonment was 77% on Black Friday compared to 71% on average.
Based on these analytics, there is a shift towards people buying online on our mobile devices instead of physical retailers. However, physical stores can still do a lot by offering click-and-collect. People find the item online but want to get it immediately and not wait for delivery.

Start early
