SMS marketing
How to make it successful in your business
Good and bad when it comes to SMS marketing
There are always pros and cons to every marketing platform. Price, accessibility, impact, target audience behavior and much more. SMS marketing may not be right for you and your business. But if it is, you can get a lot out of it.
Benefits of SMS marketing
- It's quick and easy. The fact that SMS is just text (and links) means it's very quick and easy to get a message across.
- Very high visibility. Around 95% open SMS messages within the first 3 minutes. 98% open the SMS. This is much higher than, for example, email marketing.
- You can establish a dialog with your customers incredibly easily. Receive SMS responses and you've already moved them closer to a purchase.
- SMS also works across devices and smartphone models. At the same time, the popularity of SMS is still high - and actually increasing - even though there are many new forms of communication.
Disadvantages of SMS marketing
- It's expensive. It costs about 26 cents per SMS you send. So you can't be as generous with SMS as you are with email.
- You don't have the same options for the design of the SMS. This makes it difficult to communicate accurately.
- Separate permission must be obtained to send SMS messages.
