Opportunities and limitations - Belgium

Overview

Belgium is an extremely complex SMS market and there are many filters in play.

Sender

Shipper ID will be changed to ensure delivery.
Alphanumeric sender IDs are not supported by Belgacom, so will be changed to a random numeric value.

Content

Belgian networks heavily filter and place restrictions on international routes and even direct connections.
Belgacom only supports the HP Roman 8 character set, so some special characters, such as €, are not displayed correctly.
Belgacom does not investigate Unicode.

Delivery receipts are provided for all networks, but they are network receipts instead of handset receipts.
