    IP whitelist for Email-to-SMS

When sending SMS via Email-to-SMS, you can protect your account with IP whitelisting.
This feature ensures that only emails sent from approved IP addresses are accepted and sent as SMS.

When should you use IP whitelisting?

    • If you are sending from Own on-premise SMTP server

    • If your company wants to extra security on dispatch

    • If you want to ensure that only emails from your internal systems can send SMS

Most cloud-based email providers reuse IPs across many customers, so in most cases we recommend sending via Email-to-SMS with API key in the sender address (format: phone number.api-key.APIKEY).

But if you have full control over your own mail server, whitelisting is a powerful solution.

    Scramble messages after X minutes

For GDPR compliance, SureSMS allows you to scramble messages after a number of minutes. The default value is 0 minutes, which means messages are never scrambled.

What does it mean to scramble messages?

    When a message is scrambled:

    • The middle four digits of the phone number are replaced with #

    • The entire message content is overwritten with ******

    • You can still see, that The message is sent - but not to whom or what was sent

This provides better data protection while still allowing us to document SMS usage if you ever doubt the number of messages sent.

Important to know - telecom operators store messages themselves

Even if SureSMS scrambles after, say, 10 minutes, the message is still with the operator for up to 72 hours, if the phone is switched off or without coverage. This is standard across the SMS infrastructure and not something SMS gateways can change.

    Block sending to selected countries

To avoid mis-sending or misuse, you can choose exactly which countries can receive SMS messages from your account.

    Why is this important?

Remote systems can sometimes send SMS messages without the correct country code.
    Example:
A number starting with 21 is in many cases interpreted as Algeria.

By blocking all countries except the ones you want, you avoid:

    • Accidental traffic,

    • Fake numbers,

    • unnecessary taxing.

If a message tries to send to a blocked country, we stop it - and you don't pay for the attempt.

Automatic spam filter (can only be enabled/disabled via support)

SureSMS has a built-in spam filter to prevent accidental duplicate sending:

    • If Same message to same recipient is sent within 10 minutes, No. 2 is rejected.

    • This prevents the recipient from thinking something is wrong or feeling spammed.

When do we turn off the spam filter?

Some systems - especially IOT devices - may require the same SMS to be sent multiple times in quick succession.

    Examples:

    • water meters

    • heat meters

    • technical alarms

    • industrial sensors

In these cases, our support can disable the spam filter for your account.
