What is an SMS Gateway?
An SMS gateway is the service or piece of software that is the gateway to the telecom operators' networks. You deliver a message to your SMS gateway along with the phone number to which the message should be sent. Then it is the SMS gateway's job to contact the right telecom company and tell the telecom company that the given number should receive the message.
What is a good SMS Gateway?
You can choose from many SMS gateways in the UK. Some are better than others. There are a handful of reputable providers. You can look for different things to ensure you get a good SMS gateway provider:
First, of course, is the operational stability of the gateway. Does your SMS gateway provider promise you high uptime? Then there's the question of message delivery guarantee. If your provider does not offer a delivery guarantee, you should be wary of using them. Finally, there's the price. Is it a fair price? In particular, you should be aware that some SMS gateways charge a subscription, have lock-in periods or require prepayment.
If you are unsure about the quality of the SMS gateway, you can always create a test account and try out the provider. Fill out the form to the right and get a free test account from us with 50 messages.
